The Shameless Strangers formed in early 2003 as a duo consisting of their two main guitar players, Mike Dashnaw and Will Scheifley. Playing both covers and infectious originals, the two guitarists both humored crowds with their funny songs and left crowds in awe of their colorful mastery of the five stringed instrument. Mike and Will played small gigs at open mics and coffee shops, honing their craft for their adoring fans while picking up new ones wherever they went. Their catchy songs still seem to strike the funny bone of listeners who both laugh and nod their head to the lyrics and rhythm of these two masters of guitar and tongue-in-cheek humor. After three years of perfecting their sound, Will and Mike felt it would be best to start a full band. With the addition of drums and bass supplied by James “Bill” Bougill and Cody Reid the band was complete…almost. Dan Gallagher, a local Plattsburgh musician with perfect pitch, beautiful technique, and just all around colorful guy is the most recent addition to the Shameless Strangers. Dan’s outgoing personality shines on the stage and compliments the music of the Strangers perfectly. The band continues to play gigs around the North Country and Vermont where fans just can’t seem to get enough. With the pulsating grooves of Bougill, anchoring bass playing of Reid, technical virtuosity of Dashnaw combined with the all around musicality of Gallagher and Scheifley the Shameless Strangers is a fun band that makes fun music. And that is what music is supposed to be…FUN!!!

The Shameless Strangers are offensively bold characters of a bizarre and awe-inspiring class.
When the Stones roll on by. When the Dead won't seem to die. When the Fish swim away. There is a Band that will play. So like the Wise Men to the manger, we will go see the Shameless Strangers. Read some stories by Will from his high school days |
